Americanicisations

One thing I love about American English is its propensity to use a long word when a short one would do. Or take a long word and make it even longer. A few that I have heard or read recently:

  • relevancy = relevanceamerican flag picture
  • anesthesiologist = anaesthetist
  • transportation = transport
  • thermically = thermally
  • obsolescent = obsolete

Got any others to add?
